Flockin Ale

Lead don't follow
Local Artist Leanne Bolger and popular Hebden Bridge based Bridestone Brewing are once again combining to create Flockin Ale. Following its huge success when first produced in 2008, the beer has been re-commissioned and will be available in a selection of West Yorkshires finest real ale houses.
Leanne, 33, also of Hebden Bridge said “My photograph of the sheep has become extremely popular, but I was looking for a new and diverse way to promote my brand. I got in touch with Dan Tasker, Head brewer at Bridestones through an old friend, and after discussing the possibility of making the beer, we went ahead with production. The beer was a great success, so we decided to commission another brew this winter”.
Leanne has been extremely hands on in the process, and has visited the brewery several times to observe the brewing process and work on the artwork for both the cask and bottle labels. The Flockin Ale artwork displays the popular photograph (Lead don’t follow) of a large group of sheep, which Leanne took on a misty morning in North Yorkshire. The photograph has been seen in a variety of pubs, but is currently on show at The Shoulder of Mutton, Hebden Bridge, and The Ilkley Moor Vaults.
Bridestones Brewing which has been in business just over 3 years has become increasingly popular amongst some of the North’s finest pubs, clubs and hotels, with 2009 being its most successful year to date. Dan the head brewer and owner has worked hard to develop a small but acclaimed selection of beers, of which Flockin Ale is the latest edition. “I really liked Leanne’s idea of combining two local businesses to make one great product. There was really no downside to getting involved with the project, and I’m really happy with the way the Beer has turned out” said Dan.
Local designer Russell Horn of Rusty designs created the pump clips, labels, and other promotional material along with designing the website flockinale.com, where a set of limited edition photographic prints are available along with other work by Leanne, and a list of stockists where the beer will be available.
